MISSION
CFFP The Craniofacial Foundation of the Philippines, Inc. (CFFP) is a non-stock, non-profit, non sectarian, non-government organization whose roots can be traced to the Craniofacial Center that was established in 28 September 1989 at the St. Martin de Porres Charity Hospital upon the initiative of Dr. Teresita L. Tongson, the first female plastic surgeon of the Philippines. Right from its inception, an innovative ‘team approach’ was introduced by involving the Plastic, Maxillofacial, Dental, Pediatric, and Anesthesiology Departments.
In March 2000, Dr. Teresita L. Tongson set up the Craniofacial Foundation of the Philippines, Inc. (CFFP) to provide and ensure the funding requirements of the Craniofacial Center. To date, she continues to serve as the Founder and Chairman of the foundation. The Craniofacial Center is currently housed in a building constructed by the Mabuhay Deseret Foundation for its exclusive use at 3578 Lingayen Street, Sta. Mesa, Manila.
The CFFP provides free surgery not only to the cleft community courtesy of Smile Train, but also to indigents in need of surgery to release burn contractures, reconstructive surgery, oral & maxillofacial surgery, meningoceles, and other special cases. The CFFP has the human resources to help more patients, but lacks the finances to make it happen. It depends entirely on private donors and its partners like the U.S. Embassy Club and the Liliane Foundation of the Philippines to pay for its non-cleft surgeries. The CFFP is proud of its record, providing quality work to patients it has had the privilege to help.
The VISION of the CFFP is to be a highly specialized multidisciplinary Center focusing on Cranio-Facial Problems and Condition, providing not only free surgery but also training and research.
The MISSION of the CFFP is to provide an integrated interdisciplinary approach to the complete habilitation/rehabilitation of persons with orofacial and craniofacial anomalies and communicative disorders. This is made possible both through a center-based ambulatory surgical clinic affiliated with a tertiary hospital and other institutions, and a mission mobilization program which extends to all the regions of the Philippines.
The Craniofacial Foundation of the Philippines, Inc. (CFFP) is unique since all of its volunteer surgeons, anesthesiologists, dentists, pediatricians, nurses, etc. provide their services for free. Adhering to the spirit of volunteerism inculcated by Dr. Aleli R. Guzman Quirino, Founder of the St. Martin de Porres Charity Hospital, the CFFP has survived the test of time notwithstanding the pervading sense of materialism prevalent in modern day society.
The CFFP conducts Outreach Surgical Cleft Missions in far-flung areas of the Philippines where other similar organizations do not venture. Through the years, it has conducted missions in LUZON (Abra, Aurora, Batangas, Bulacan, Cagayan Valley, Cordilleras, Ilocos Sur, Mindoro, Naga, Palawan, Pangasinan, Quezon, Tarlac, Zambales), VISAYAS (Antique, Iloilo, Kalibo, Leyte, Samar) and MINDANAO (Bukidnon, Iligan, Tawi- Tawi). More missions have been scheduled giving the Foundation more opportunities to change the lives of God’s little children.
